Son et lumière

Dear Friends,

We’ve been so blessed to bring music to the Bay Area in venues both traditional and nontraditional, in person and online. Our new adventure in performance, Son et Lumière, will expand on our experimentation with nontraditional venues by transforming outdoor urban spaces with live performances accompanied by large scale video projections. 

As a solo pianist, I did a few similar sound and light installations on the East Coast, in which live video of my hands on the keyboard was projected onto the outdoor walls of historic buildings. ESF will be bringing a similar concept to the Bay Area, projecting and magnifying live video of details of the musicians playing.

This series exemplifies ESF’s belief in creating a more inclusive world through art by reaching beyond the concert hall and using technology to bring music into accessible public spaces. It’s our hope that this series of outdoor concerts will allow audiences to meet music on their own terms and experience its power without barriers of price or pretense.

We are so grateful to share space and experience music with you all.
